The tournament between Trilogy at the Vineyards
and Trilogy Rio Vista took place on Saturday October 1st. It was a
beautiful day for tennis. It started out cool with no wind and moved into the
mid seventies by the time the tournament was over. The competition was
close. Trilogy Rio Vista jumped out to an early lead but Trilogy at the
Vineyards battled back. It was down to the last set being played by the
number one seeded Mixed Doubles teams, Chris & Bob from the Vineyards and
Yoko and John Camacho from Rio Vista. If Rio Vista lost the last set, the
tournament would be tied 11 sets won by each club. The tie breaker would
go to games won and with a quick count it looked like the Vineyards would win
that. All the worry was for naught, Yoko and John rallied and took the final
set 6/4 with everyone watching and cheering on their team. The final score was
Rio Vista 12, the Vineyards 10.
After the play was over we all adjourned to the
Delta Club for a great lunch served up by Sandy Price, Claudia and Claude.
I would like to thank the food committee, the club members who helped set
up and take down, the players and our two great score keepers, Cindy Kienzle
and Bob Knight.
Now it is on to the October 29th tournament with
Summerset Brentwood. So sign up to play and come out have some fun and
socialize with fellow tennis players.
