The Trilogy Rio Vista Tennis Club hosted our tennis friends from Trilogy Vineyards of Brentwood on Saturday 10/12. A total of 13 doubles matches were contested consisting again of two 8 game sets using no ad scoring. This was a competitive tournament in which overall scoring was recorded. The overall scoring metric was total number of games won. There were a total of three rounds of 4 matches using our four tennis courts. An additional mixed doubles match was requested by Vineyards resulting in the #1 women's doubles match taking place late in the day. This was a great match which unfortunately very few of us witnessed due to other time commitments. A total of 208 games were played in this tournament - there was a lot of tennis going on in Rio Vista Saturday!
After the dust settled (yes the courts do need washing but at least the HOA did remove the leaves from the courts on both days) the final tally showed Trilogy Vineyards with 91 games won and Trilogy Rio Vista with 117 games won. I attribute the victory to superior team management. Several players played in their first tournaments and got to experience the nerves and tightening of these silly little matches can bring.
Again many thanks those who played and to DiAnn Barlass who took on the food responsibility for the entire event and her helpers Claudia and husband John who complained of having to get up early. And of course thanks to Soc who provided the tennis balls and bathroom shuttle service. Again we as a tennis club received many compliments on our friendliness and sportsmanship during the matches. Well done.
Thanks,
Al
