Saturday was a great day for tennis, not too hot and not too
windy. At least the residents of Rio Vista didn't think it was too windy!
We had a total of 43 tennis players take part in our tournament with
Rossmoor. We had 22 players from our club and Rossmoor had 21 players
from their club. Going into the third and final round of the tournament the teams
were tied at 8 points each. That left 8 points up for grabs in the last
round, which were all mixed doubles matches. After two of the four matches were
finished we were up by 2 points Trilogy 11 Rossmoor 9. The last two
matches being played were close, each team battled back and forth, back and
forth and by the time the smoke had cleared and the sausages were being served
at lunch, the final score was Rossmoor 13 and Trilogy 11. The tournament
was so close that everyone stayed till the end of the final match (except for
our cooks and the food committee; we've got to eat!). After the final
match we all reassembled in the Delta Club for a fantastic luncheon prepared by
our club President, Claude and the food committee of Yupayong, Claudia, Ken,
Soc, Michael, Sandy and Chef Orlando. We passed the victory plaque to Rossmoor to be held by
them until next May when we win it back.
Thanks to all who helped with the tournament. A special
thanks to Michael, George and Cora for washing down the courts and Al Banga and
Soc for hauling things back and forth from the Delta Club. Your efforts were
much appreciated.

The Rossmoor Tournament was a stupendous success, thanks
to all those who helped make it happen.
Although we did not win the fabled and highly competitive
tournament it was pretty close and there is always next year.
Big thanks to our Tournament Director, Bill “The Commish”
Kienzle for all he did to make this such a great event.
The other people who worked on the tournament were:

And it really helped that everyone pitched in to help on
the clean up. I was amazed at how fast
the Delta got cleaned up.
